In 2008 he won the Evening Standard Award of Best Design and was nominated for the Whatsonstage.com Award for Best Design - both for Brief Encounter.
In 2009 he won the Critic’s Circle Award for Best Design and was nominated for the Olivier Award for Best Design - both for Brief Encounter.
In 2010 he was awarded an OBIE as part of the design team for Brief Encounter at St Anne’s Warehouse in Brooklyn, New York and in 2010-2011 he was awarded an Outer Critic’s Circle award for An Outstanding Achievement in Scenic Design for Brief Encounter at Studio 54 on Broadway.
His design for Homage to Catalonia (Co-prod - Northern Stage/West Yorkshire Playhouse/Theatre Romea, Barcelona) was selected for inclusion in the UK exhibit at the Prague Quadrennial of Scenography 2007 which was subsequently exhibited at the Victoria and Albert Museum.
His design for "Steptoe and Son" (co-prod : Kneehigh Theatre and West Yorkshire Playhouse) was selected for inclusion in the 2015 UK exhibit at the Prague Quadrennial of Scenography and subsequently exhibted at The Victoria and Albert Museum.
His work as Director/Designer included “Equus”, “Phantom of the Opera”, “’Tis Pity She’s a Whore”, “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”, “ David Copperfield”, “Sweeney Todd”, “The Threepenny Opera”, and “The Philanthropist”. His work as Designer included “ Entertaining Mr Sloan”, “Loot”, “ Can’t Pay Won’t Pay”, “Playboy of the Western World”, “The Tempest”, “Entertaining Mr Sloan”, “The Price” and “Sailor Beware”.
His work as Director/Designer included “Octopus Hotel”, “The Threepenny Opera”, “They Shoot Horses Don’t They?”(co directed with Emma Rice), “Therese Raquin”, “The Tiger’s Bride”, “The Bloody Chamber”, “Kaput” and “Great Expectations”. His work as Designer included most of the Company’s early work including “A Clockwork Orange”, “1984”, “Wings of Desire”, “Animal Farm”, “Blood Wedding”, “The Ballroom of Romance”, “Edmund”, “The Dumb Waiter”, “A Factory Romeo and Juliet”, and “Homage to Catalonia” (co produced with West Yorkshire Playhouse and Theatre Romeo,Barcelona).
